Jordy has a wealth of experience in his field and has been in the outfitting business for over 50 years. In this time he has worked in the US and in different provinces across Canada where he has honed and perfected his trade.
Jordy spent his first full fall in an outfitting camp back in 1976 in the northern Cassiar Mountains working for his father, Murd McAuley. His normal duties included wrangling horses, shoeing horses, skinning capes, cutting firewood, and guiding fishermen.
His second and third falls in the mountains were in the falls of 1977 & 1978 spent in the Muncho Lake and Toad River area of B.C. for N.B. “Red” Sorenson as a horse wrangler and guide.
He then spent the next four years guiding for Dall Sheep, moose and grizzly in the south western Yukon Territory near Kusawa and Dezadeash Lakes for Jim Babala and Dave Young. Babala owned the area in 1979 and Young owned it for the next three years.
In 1983 the fall was spent in the Kananaskis area south of Calgary Alberta guiding for Rick Guinn. Bighorn sheep and elk were the most hunted species. Elk were hunted on Cataract Creek, Lost Creek, and the Old Man River. Sheep were hunted in the Evans Thomas creek, Little Elbow and Ghost River drainages. These hunts were done by packing into some areas with horses and some of the sheep hunts were done by backpack.
Between the years of 1984 and 1986 they were spent in northern B.C. guiding for Stone sheep, goat, grizzly, moose, elk, caribou and black bears. The outfit was managed by Bob Welsh and was located between the Prophet and Muskwa Rivers

Since 2006 Jordy McAuley has owned and operated Finlay River Outfitters Ltd. in northern British Columbia. Species hunted include Stone Sheep, Mountain Goat, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Caribou, Moose, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Wolves and Wolverine.
